Description

Crosswater Holding is a cottage dating to the 17th century, possibly originally timber framed. The front is now constructed of rough-coursed and galleted sandstone rubble with brick dressings and angle quoins, topped with a hipped, plain tiled roof. The cottage has two storeys, with a stack located centrally. There are two three-light casement windows on the first floor and one blocked window, alongside two ground floor windows. A central plank door is present. A wing extends at a right angle to the right end, with a further pentice extension to that end. The interior reveals some exposed wall framing. It represents a good example of an unspoilt vernacular building.
