Description
Barford Stream Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century and late 18th century. It features mixed walling materials and a tile roof. The building is timber-framed with some recladding, standing two storeys high with an attic and two windows on the front (east) side. It has a plain roof with a catslide at the rear and a prominent stack on the south gable that includes an oven. The front and south side display an exposed frame with infilling made of brick (some in a herringbone pattern), plaster, and stone, all resting on a stone base. The other walls are constructed of stone with brick dressings, which have been painted. The south gable is tile-hung above the ground floor, featuring a fish-scale band and a tilt. The cottage has three sliding sash windows and several small casement windows. The entrance is a boarded door set in a plain frame. There is a 20th-century outshot on the north side, which has a boarded front.
