Description
31 The Borough is a timber-framed building that was reclad in red brick in the 18th century and later. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three window bays. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with modern tiles. Along the street front and the east return wall, there is a rubbed moulded brick eaves cornice, with a small brick dentil cornice below it along the street front. The east gable was once plastered and has a small attic window. On the street front, there are three transomed and mullioned two-light casement windows on the first floor, while the ground floor has a modern plate glass shop front. Timber-framing is visible in the lower part of the south wing along the east returning wall. This building is part of a group that includes the front of the Bush Hotel and Nos 29 to 44 on The Borough.
