Description

Dating to the 17th century, and potentially earlier, this building comprises numbers 29, 30, and 31 West Street. It may have origins as a medieval hall house. The construction is colour-washed brick, set on a projecting plinth, with an old tile roof that is hipped to the right. A large square chimney is located to the right of the centre of the building.

Number 29 has a gable facing the street, featuring a single window. The ground floor window has been altered to 5 panes wide, while the first floor window is also altered. A 4-panel flush door is located to the right, accompanied by a cast iron door knocker shaped like a lion's head.

Numbers 30 and 31 each feature two 2-light leaded casements projecting into the roof on the first floor. A 4-panel flush door is found in the left-hand outer corner. A good, 19th-century cast iron knocker is present, and a window has been relocated to the right-hand corner. The building was formerly known as 'Timber Hall'.

Numbers 18, 37, 43, 45, and all the listed buildings on the south-east side of the street from numbers 19 to 46 (inclusive), together with the wrought iron screen before Vernon House, form a group of buildings of group value.
