Description
This is an early 19th-century building with alterations to an older structure. The front presented to West Street dates from the early 19th century, however the building incorporates older elements at the rear. It is two storeys high and has colour-washed brickwork on a projecting plinth. The roof is hipped and slate-covered, with old tiles visible at the rear. There are three windows on the front elevation; four-pane windows on the first floor, with stone sills, and a blocked window to the left of the centre. The ground floor has two shop windows, each with four panes, and two glazed shop doors.
A contemporary shop front, originally occupied by P A G Elsmore (Grocer), features two windows and a central glazed door. It is framed by pilasters with roundel tops and includes a six-panel flush door at the centre, flanked by similar panels. The shop front and door are set under an entablature. At the rear, there are irregular, double-gabled wings constructed in timber frame with brick infilling, dating to the 17th century.
