Description
Malthouse Farm is a house that dates back to the 16th century at the rear and was extended across the front in the 17th century. The rear is timber framed with brick cladding below and tile hanging above, while the front features red and brown brick with taller plain tiled roofs. The building has a T-shaped plan with a 16th-century wing at right angles to the rear. It is two storeys high, set on a brick plinth at the front, and has string courses over the ground and first floors, with end piers on the gable front bay to the left. There is a ridge stack to the left of the centre, along with additional ridge stacks at the rear and on the rear end. The gables feature attic windows, although the left one is blocked. The fenestration is irregular, with two 19th-century casement windows on the left in the first floor of the gabled bay, and two windows to the right, with the end window under a cambered head. The ground floor has four windows, three of which are under cambered heads. There is a planked door at the centre in a wooden moulded surround, leading to a gabled brick porch. On the left side, there are two windows on each floor, while the right side has a gabled bay at the right angle bay to the left, featuring diamond pane leaded casement windows. There is also a further door at the left end and a single-storey boarded brick extension at the rear.
