Description

Pankhurst is a house that dates back to the 16th century at the rear left, with extensions from the late 17th to early 18th centuries at the front left, and further late 18th-century extensions to the right. The building is timber framed, featuring whitewashed cladding and a rendered plinth, topped with plain tiled roofs. It has parallel ranges on the left and a single range on the right. The house stands two storeys tall, with an interrupted plat band over the ground floor on the left, and a wooden modillion eaves cornice on the left-hand range and its return wall. The right half of the main range has a parapet with a shaped gable at the right end. There is a square valley stack on the left and a ridge stack to the left of the centre on the main range.

The front range on the left has two casement windows with a blind panel between them, while the ground floor features four casement windows. On the first floor of the return front of the parallel range, there is a 3-light mullion and transom casement window, with a small window below it. The right side has mixed fenestration, including one glazing bar sash window on the first floor left, a shallow casement in the centre, and another glazing bar sash window in an open box on the first floor right. A half-glazed door is located in a projecting square break to the centre right, topped with a gabled hood supported by wooden brackets. There is a cambered head panel in the gable to the right, and a single-storey extension at the right end.
