Description
The Kings Head Public House is a building that originally served as a house, dating from the early 18th century, with a 19th-century extension to the left. It is constructed of red and brown brick, with the extension being whitewashed, and features wooden eaves cornices and plain tiled roofs. The structure consists of parallel ranges to the right, with the extension set back to the left.
The building is two storeys high, with single-storey extensions. There is a large square chimney stack to the left at the junction of the ranges, a smaller ridge stack to the left, and a rear stack to the right. The first floor has three twelve-pane glazing-bar sash windows in open boxes, featuring original thick glazing bars. On the ground floor, there is one window to the right with flanking shutters, and paired twelve-pane sashes to the left, also with flanking shutters.
The entrance features a half-glazed panelled door set within an architrave-moulded surround, topped with a pulvinated frieze and a flat hood. The supporting brackets have guttae at their base and a projecting, bead-decorated 'tongue' above. The 19th-century half-glazed door in the left extension has fixed flanking windows and a transom light above.
On the right-hand return front, there is an offset stack and a 19th or 20th-century oriel window on a central bracket at the first floor right, along with a glazed door to the ground floor left.
