Description
Contact House is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the early 19th century and restored in the 20th century. The building features channelled, whitewashed stucco at the base and yellow and dun coloured brick above. It has boxed wooden eaves and low pitched hipped slate roofs. The structure is two storeys tall with a basement, and it has reeded moulding over the ground floor. There is a stack located to the right of the centre.
On the first floor, there are two 20th century glazing-bar sash windows, one with 16 panes and the other with 12 panes, both set in projecting architrave surrounds. On the ground floor to the left, there is one window and a casement window in the basement to the left. The entrance features a 20th century door with six panels, positioned to the right of centre within a rendered surround and topped with a flat hood supported by two fluted Doric columns on pedestals, which rest on retaining walls leading up to a flight of five steps.
To the right, there is a lower bay that is slightly set back, which includes a small 12-pane glazing-bar sash window on the first floor and a larger 12-pane glazing-bar sash window on the ground floor. The left-hand return front has three 16-pane glazing-bar sashes on each floor, also in architrave surrounds. The building is included for its group value.
