Description
This 19th-century building, now a restaurant, features a distinctive post box attached to its front. The post box is housed within a wooden wall box designed as an aedicule, meaning a small classical temple-like structure. It has a triangular pediment, with two posting boxes in the frieze, one on each side of floral decorations. The ends of the box are adorned with floral paterae above thin Doric pilasters resting on moulded plinths, with two fielded panels between slots labelled “town” and “country.” The upper part of the building is whitewashed render, while the ground floor displays stained glass windows. A half-glazed door with a linenfold pattern, set under a 4-centred arch, is located to the left. The house itself is not of particular architectural note.
