Description

The monument to Lady Perkins is a chest tomb located 4 metres north of the tower of the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Sunbury-on-Thames. It dates from the early 18th century, around 1730, and is designed in the Baroque style. The tomb is made of stone and sits on a plinth with a moulded pedestal, featuring fielded panels on its sides. The corners are recessed and adorned with volutes on a fluted stem, along with acanthus leaf carvings. The top is concave and decorated with gadrooning leading up to a square ogee finial. Additional gadrooning is present on the geometrically patterned plinth with scroll ends.
