Description
The entrance wall and gates to the Old Vicarage date from the late 18th century. They consist of dun brick walls topped with stone coping, accompanied by wrought-iron gates and an overthrow. The flanking walls are approximately 10 feet high and feature an offset. At each end, there are square piers topped with moulded caps. Larger square piers, about 15 feet high, stand on cement plinths and have moulded cement caps beneath spherical finials, flanking the central gates. The inner supports for the gates have scrolled tops, and the gates themselves feature C-Scroll ironwork and rectilinear margin tracery. The original arched overthrow supports a central hexagonal lantern, which has diminishing roundels in the arch. There is also a smaller gate to the right.
