Description

Vicarage Cottage is a house that dates from the early 18th century at the rear, with a gable end to the right from the 18th century, and a later 18th-century range at the front left. The building features red brick at the rear and right, which is now colourwashed on the front gable end, and yellow/dun colour brick on the left. It has plain tiled roofs with parallel ranges to the left. Originally L-shaped with a cross wing to the right, it now has a parallel front range to the left. There are corbelled stacks to the rear left of centre and a rendered ridge stack to the right, along with a square red brick stack at the junction on the rear right.

The house is two storeys with attics in the gable end, featuring one diamond-pane sash window in the gable. On the first floor, there is one diamond-pane sash window under a cambered head, and one sash window to the ground floor on the right. A plat band runs to the eaves on the left, with two 9-pane diamond tracery glazing-bar sashes on the first floor below, under gauged brick heads. To the right of centre on the ground floor, there is a similar 12-pane sash window, and a hip-roofed angle bay window is located in the re-entrant angle with the wing to the right. The entrance features a half-glazed, panelled door under a roundel-tracery fanlight and gauged brick head to the left. There are single-storey extensions to the right.
