Description

Bude Cottage, Calais Cottage, and Penang Cottage are three houses built in the late 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. They are situated under a single tiled roof at numbers 62, 64, and 66 London Street, Chertsey. The houses have two gable ends with flat brick verges and two storeys with an attic. Three gabled dormers are present. A moulded wooden cornice with modillions runs along the top of the front facade, and there are two chimneys. There are eight sash windows in total, some with original glazing bars (though some are now blank). The front doors have early 19th century flat, reeded door cases. A first-floor band has been rendered. The ground floor front has red brick quoins and window dressings. Number 66 includes a single-storey wing constructed of amber brick, featuring a square bay with a three-light sash window retaining some upper glazing bars within a wooden case with a moulded entablature, and a stone cope. Photographs are held by English Heritage.

Numbers 62 to 84 (even) form a group.
