Description

The building comprises three cottages located at 44-48 London Street, Chertsey. Dating back to the 16th century, these cottages were originally timber-framed and underwent alterations in the 18th century. The structure features two gable ends and a tile roof. Three chimneys are present, with one on the right side exhibiting diagonally-set shafts rising above a substantial, shouldered projection. The windows are primarily four-light casements, with one first-floor window in No. 48 retaining small panes of glass. An elliptical brick panel is incorporated into the central parapet. A first-floor overhang extends forward, with four later bays added to the ground floor, terminating beneath a soffit. The original, plain 16th-century door, set within a wide frame and including spurs, is centrally located. The eastern half of the front facade is roughcast. Photographs are held within the National Monuments Record. Nos. 36 to 48 (even) form a group.
