Description
This is a row of three cottages located on Vicarage Lane. Numbers 4 and 4A date to the early 19th century, while number 6 is a later 19th-century addition. The original part of the cottages is constructed of chequer brick with a moulded plinth and dentil eaves, while the addition is of red brick with a similar plinth but offset eaves. The roof is tiled, and brick chimneys are visible in the centre and left gable.
The cottages are two storeys high with a basement, and they have four bays. Most windows are 3-light casements with segmental heads. Some casements, specifically in the third bay and the first floor of the second bay, retain old leaded lights. More recent leaded glass is present in the right bay and the first floor of the left bay. The ground floor of the second bay features a canted wooden oriel.
The basement is irregular, with two partly blocked openings, a paired casement in the second bay, and a small double door in the right bay. There are three board doors, each with a segmental head; the door on the right side has a 20th-century lean-to hood. One other door has been blocked up.
