Description
Merrick Cottage and Wyatt Cottage are a semi-detached pair of houses from the 18th century, located on Stroude Road in Thorpe. They are constructed of red brick and feature a hipped slate roof. The buildings are two storeys tall and have a large central red brick chimney stack. Each house has modern brick porches with semicircular openings and two flat arched window openings on each floor, which contain modern casement windows.
To the west, there is a modern two-storey addition with rendered brick walls and 20th-century casement windows. The east end has a painted timber board addition that was formerly a church hall. This single-storey section has a gabled plain tiled roof with a ridge crest and is L-shaped, featuring a decorative porch on the south elevation. The windows in this addition have leaded glass with 'Gothick' heads.
