Description
Great Fosters Barn is a 17th-century barn that has been converted into a banqueting hall. It features a timber frame that is clad in brick arranged in a herringbone pattern, topped with a half hipped tiled roof. The north side has a two-storey entrance, and there is a wide, low oak panelled door that connects to a single-storey link added in the 20th century.
Inside, the barn has five bays supported by strutted queen post trusses, along with a 20th-century gallery and aisles on the north and south sides. A large stack is located at the south end of the building.
On the garden elevation, each end bay has a pair of doors, while the three central bays feature eight-light casement windows with stone mullions and transoms. There are also various casement windows in the main structure above the aisles.
