Description

This is a picturesque, two-storey house with a coach house, dating from the third quarter of the 19th century. The main house is an irregular design with three bays, featuring a narrow, projecting central bay and centre and left bays set under steeply pitched gables. It is constructed of painted brick with a fishscale slated roof. It retains some sash windows with glazing bars, and a first-floor centre casement. A wide, square porch has carved details and pierced spandrels, sheltering a half-glazed door. To the right stands a single-storey and attic coach house with a slated roof and painted brick walls. The coach house has carriage doors under a wide, cambered brick arch, and a small casement window in the gable peak. The house forms a group with numbers 18A, 20, 24, and 28 Upper West Street, and numbers 24 and 24A West Street.
