Description
The White House is a house made up of two sections, located at 24 Upper West Street. The left part dates from the 18th century and features two storeys with three windows, though it has undergone some alterations. The right part is from the early 19th century and has two storeys with one window. The exterior walls are pebbledashed and painted. The right section has a very low pitched hipped slate roof, while the left section has a higher pitched roof that is hipped on the left side and has swept eaves, which have been renewed in machine tiles. Both sections have moulded wood eaves cornices and end chimneys. The windows are sash style, with a canted bay on the left side and a two-storey square bay that is wider at the bottom, positioned to the right of the centre. The entrance features a half-glazed six-panel door with an oblong fanlight above and a bracketed cornice hood. The White House is part of a group that includes Nos 18A, 20, 24, 26 (including a coach-house), and 28 Upper West Street, as well as Nos 24 and 24A West Street.
