Description
Nos 18A and 20 on Upper West Street are 18th century, two-storey houses featuring three windows, with an additional bay added to the right that is almost contemporary. There is also a later 18th century, two-storey, three-bay extension set back to the right, which is No 18A. The buildings are constructed of red brick and have tiled roofs with end chimneys. They feature sash windows; No 18A has glazing bars, while No 20 has replaced four-pane windows, both set in moulded wood architraves under flat gauged brick arches. The eaves cornices are also moulded wood. No 18A has a 19th century four-panel door with a tall oblong fanlight, while No 20 has a sunk basement with three stone steps leading to a four-panel door that has a patterned fanlight, pilasters, and a pediment. Nos 18A, 20, 24, 26 including the coach-house, and 28 Upper West Street, along with Nos 24 and 24A West Street, form a group.
