Description

This is a timber-framed building, originally dating to the 16th century, with an 18th-century west extension. The building is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays. The west extension is narrower, with a slated roof, while the older section has a steep-pitched tiled roof with a substantial stack. The left bay features exposed timber framing, although not all of this is original, with plaster infilling. The other bays are of 18th-century red brick with gauged flat arches over the sash windows, which retain their glazing bars. A cement parapet has been added to the older part, rising to the eaves level of the 18th-century extension. On the ground floor of the left bay is a small, early 19th-century canted bay, and a replaced four-panel door. To the right of this are a reproduction Georgian door and two modern shop windows. Inside, visible timber posts rest on a high ground cill.
