Description
The Blue Anchor Public House, located at No 27 West Street, is a long, timber-framed building that dates back to the late medieval period. It has two storeys and consists of five bays, with an irregular layout. To the left, there is a narrow bay that was added in the mid-19th century. The building features a very high-pitched tiled roof and a rebuilt compound ridge stack. The first floor is decorated with fancy tile hanging, while the ground floor is a mix of painted brick and rendered surfaces. There are 19th-century one-bar casements and one sash window on the left side, along with various modern casements and two small later 19th-century shop windows that are now used for domestic purposes. The building also has five assorted doors.
