Description

A barn dating from the mid-17th century is located on Rusper Road, Capel. The barn is timber framed, set upon brick plinths, and clad with weatherboards. It features a hipped roof covered in plain tiles. The structure comprises seven bays, with opposing waggon entrances positioned to the right of the centre. A single-storey brick and weatherboard extension adjoins the left side, alongside an open aisle catslide. A closed catslide extension is situated on the right. The interior retains a remarkably complete timber frame with arched bracing on the main posts. Originally, the barn consisted of three framed bays with gunstock posts and a queen-post clasped purlin roof. Later, in the 18th century, three additional bays were added, incorporating queen-struts and diagonal wall bracing.
