Description
The water tower at Lyne House was built around 1889. It is constructed of red brick with some grey headers and features a pyramidal plain tiled roof topped with a spiked lead finial. The tower has a square plan set on a plinth and includes string courses that divide it into three stages, with corbelled brick eaves displaying a red and blue pattern at the roof. Small wooden louvred gablets are positioned above. On the side facing the house, there is a square stack with chamfered corners. The upper stage has stone-dressed breather slits, with two on each face. The middle stage features stone-dressed mullioned and transomed windows, one on each face. Access to the ground floor is through a door on the left side, which is reached by three steps. At the rear of the tower, there is a single-storey, two-windowed range. The tower is included for its group value.
