Description
The Clock House is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with a front that was redone in the 18th century and an extension added in the 19th century. It underwent restoration in the 20th century. The structure is timber framed, featuring 20th-century brick infill at the bottom and older brick infill above, with a colourwashed render on the top. To the left, there is a red and blue brick extension with a plain tiled roof, while the original range has a Horsham slab roof.
The house has two storeys and is designed as a four-hall house, with a hall that has two bays and tension bracing in the centre of the first floor. There is an end stack on the right and two diagonal stacks on the left, located at the junction with the extension. The front roof features three notable 17th-century stacks; the outer ones are diagonal, and the centre one is square.
The windows are 20th-century diamond-pane, leaded casements, with five on the first floor and two windows plus an oriel on the ground floor to the right of centre. There is a door to the right within a pentice-roofed brick porch, and another door to the left of centre leading to a cross passage at the rear of the stack.
On the left side of the house, there is a gable, a plinth, and a plat band above the ground floor. There are two 20th-century, 12-pane sashes in architrave surrounds on both the first and ground floors, along with two additional windows on each floor to the right, topped with a moulded eaves cornice.
At the rear, there are double diagonal stacks to the right and two gables to the left. Inside, the house features a deep brick fireplace and stone floors, with moulded spine beams and chamfered joists. The first floor has spine beams and jowled posts, and there is windbracing in the roof.
