Description
Bonnetts is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a roof that was raised and extended in the 17th century. It is timber framed, standing on a plinth of sandstone rubble, featuring square panel framing and brick infilling above, with rendered infilling in the raised eaves. The first floor is tile hung, and the gable end to the right is also tile hung. The roof is covered with Horsham slabs and is half-hipped to the right.
The house has two storeys with attics at the ends and is arranged in two gabled bays, one with diamond-pane windows and the other with square-pane windows. It consists of four framed bays, with a gabled bay at the left end and a two-storey, attic gabled entrance porch to the right of centre. Notable features include fine, corbelled diagonal stacks on the left and rear left, and two diagonal ridge stacks to the right of centre. The left gable jetties on a moulded bressumer with end scrolls on the first floor.
There is one 4-light window from the 20th century on each floor, and one 3-light window on each floor to the left of centre, as well as one 3-light window on each floor to the right. The entrance porch has a jettied attic supported by a moulded bressumer and brackets. The first floor also jetties on a moulded bressumer with scroll brackets. An 8-light oriel window on the first floor features moulded mullions and transoms, supported by scrolled brackets with pyramidal decoration. The door is located to the right in the ground floor porch recess.
At the rear, there is fishscale tile hanging, with a 20th-century hip bay to the right that has a cellar below. A square gabled oven is located at the rear of a single-storey wing to the left.
