Description
The railway tunnel, located approximately 200 metres east of Bookham Railway Station, was built in the 1880s for the London and South Western Railway Company. This short tunnel, which runs under Bookham Common, is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slightly curved line that is about 100 metres long. The tunnel's portals are designed with a horseshoe-elliptical arch, a plain band, a parapet, and pilastered ends. It is included for its group value with Bookham Station, from which the tunnel can be seen.
