Description
Ockley Court is a large house built in the late 18th century. It features red and brown brick with grey brick headers and has hipped plain tiled roofs, forming an L-shaped plan. The street elevation consists of two storeys on a plinth, with plat bands over the ground and first floors, and a parapet that partly obscures the roof. There are stacks located to the left and rear of the building. The front has three bays, each with three 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows on the first floor, which retain their glazing bars, and two windows on the ground floor. A central stone Doric pilaster frontispiece with a triglyph cornice is present, along with a three-quarter glazed outer door set in margin lights under a tripartite transom, flush with the walls, and panelled inner doors in the porch recess.
To the left is a three-bay range that continues on the return front. There is a hip-roofed wing that is set back and extends to the left, featuring one glazing-bar sash window on the projecting ground floor. The right-hand return front, or garden front, has a plat band over the ground floor, a brick plat band over the first floor's outer bays, and a stone band at the centre. The central three-bay range has outer angle bays that project and rise through two storeys, with 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows on the first floor—three in each bay and three across the centre. The ground floor has later 19th-century plate glass sash windows, and double casement doors are located in the centre face of the angle bays. There are extensions set back to the right, and the building includes 17th-century vaulted cellars below.
