Description
This is a house, now partially used as a shop, dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The original house was constructed with a timber frame, exposed at the rear, with brick infilling. The front is clad in painted brick with a tile-hung first floor, and features a plain tiled roof. The original section comprised three bays, with double gables to the left, and a later 19th-century double-gabled range was added to the right, now used as a shop. The house is two storeys high, with stacks located to the left of the centre, at the left end, and on the right. The left gables each have one 20th-century casement window on each floor, while the right gables have one window on the first floor. The shop front on the right has plate glass shop windows, beneath a pentice supported by braced posts. There are two new 20th-century casement windows in the recessed central section, one on the first floor and one through the eaves. Inside, the house has a queen-post roof, with substantial exposed timber framing and a deep brick fireplace. The property was undergoing restoration at the time of the survey.
