Description

Hatch Cottage is a house that has been extended and divided, originally built in the 16th century and later extended at both ends in the 17th and 19th centuries. The structure is timber framed, with the ground floor on the left side clad in brown brick, while the right side is underbuilt in brick and features brick infill on the exposed frame in the center. The first floor is tile hung and the roof is covered with graded Horsham slabs. The building is two storeys high and has a multiple ridge stack located to the left of center, with an additional 19th-century stack on the right.

To the left, there is a gabled wing that is flush with the front, featuring a two-light, leaded attic casement window beneath drip courses. There is a shallow leaded angle-bay oriel window on the first floor, which is topped by a hipped stone roof, and another shallow angle-bay oriel window on the ground floor beneath a larger hipped roof. The center range has one single light and one three-light leaded window on the first floor, with an angle bay window below it on the ground floor, positioned to the right of center. The projecting wing on the right has a two-light leaded window on the first floor, which is sheltered by a drip hood. The entrance door is located to the left of center, set in the angle with the wing, and is sheltered by a wavy-edged, bargeboarded gabled porch supported by round pillars.
