Description
Swiss Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, which was refronted in the 18th century. It features a timber frame, clad in brown and red brick at the bottom, with fishscale tile hanging above. The building cants out over the ground floor on braces and has an exposed frame over a sandstone rubble plinth on the left-hand return front, with brick infill. The roof is plain tiled with a fishscale tile hung gable end and has a bellcast over the first floor. The cottage has a T-shaped plan that runs at right angles to the street and is two storeys tall, with a corbelled stack located to the left of centre. There are three leaded casement windows on the first floor and three windows below. A door is positioned to the left of centre, leading to a lobby entry. At the rear, there is a wing that extends at right angles, featuring galleted sandstone below a tile hung first floor.
