Description
Lascombe House is a house dating to 1894, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is constructed of red brick at ground floor level, with roughcast above on the front elevation, and tile hanging on the return and rear elevations. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The house has an irregular, roughly T-shaped plan, incorporating an entrance court to the front. Tall stacks are situated on the ridges of the gables.
To the left is a double-gabled range, two storeys high, with two leaded casement windows on the first floor. A catslide pentice extends to the left. A taller range, projecting to the right at right angles, incorporates one leaded casement window on each floor, and a jettied gable end to the right. A gabled porch, set at a 45-degree angle to the right of the main wing, has a window in the first floor. The porch features a panelled door behind two Doric columns with a noticeable swelling towards the middle, supporting the first-floor window. Another door is located on the ground floor to the left, sheltered by a flat hood.
The front, looking onto the garden, has two gables, with one projecting and jettied on braces, and a square bay with a leaded window below.
The rear elevation features three gables, the tallest being to the left, with casement windows set beneath tiled pentice hoods.
