Description
Shoelands is a house dated 1616, as indicated by the inscription over the door in the spandrels. It has been extended to the right in the late 19th century. The building features a brick plinth, with red and brown brick on the left and a brown brick porch that has horizontal bands of brown and blue brick headers on the right. The roof is plain tiled.
The house is two storeys high and has two diagonal end stacks on the left, a ridge stack to the right of centre, and a square shouldered stack at the rear, all with corbelled tops. On the first floor to the left, there are three three-light wooden casement windows, while below are three stone mullioned and transomed casement windows. To the right, there are two three-light casements on both floors.
The entrance features a projecting, gabled, two-storey porch with a three-light mullioned and transomed casement window on the first floor. Below this is a stone dressed arched entrance under a label moulding, with a studded and ribbed oak door beneath a transom light. At the rear right, there is a gabled wing and further gabled extensions. Inside, a contemporary staircase remains.
