Description

Old Well Cottage is a former hall house dating from the early 16th century, which was extended to the right in the 19th century and to the rear in the 20th century. The building has a timber frame with a brick front, and rendered brick extensions to the right. It has plain tiled roofs, steeply pitched with hipped ends and gablets over the original house. The right-hand section is one storey and has an attic with three eaves-gabled dormers containing diamond-pane leaded casement windows. A large stack is located at the rear right of the original range, with a ridge stack at the right end. The ground floor has four casement windows, and a door is situated at the left end. Inside, the roof is a braced crown post structure with wind bracing.
