Description

Knavehurst is a house, originally dating from the 17th century, with later additions in the early 19th century and the 20th century. The house is constructed of sandstone and brick, with whitewashed brick above. A sandstone plinth is present at the front extension, alongside brick quoins, and the building has plain tiled roofs. The plan is in a T-shape, with extensions to the left. An off-centre end stack is located to the right. The house has two storeys, with a plat band above the ground floor on the right-hand side. A cambered-head casement window is in the gable end to the left, on the first floor, and a sash window is below. There are two casement windows to the right on the first floor, one of which is leaded. A 20th-century six-panelled door is set within a flat-roofed porch located at the junction of the wings. The rear extension features ogee-arched diamond-pane casement windows. The building is included on the list solely for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
