Description

A former hall house, now divided into cottages, dating from the early 16th century to the centre and right, with an addition to the left built in the mid 16th century and restored in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed, with the frame exposed on the ground floor to the right. The rest of the building has flint infilling, brown brick and red brick cladding, and sandstone rubble walls with brick dressings. All are under a renewed plain tiled roof, which is hipped to the left and hipped with a gablet to the rear right.

The original hall house has three bays in the centre, with a three-bay cross wing to the right and a two-bay cross wing to the left. The left-hand wing projects, and the right-hand wing is jettied on the first floor. There is an inserted brick stack in the centre, and rebuilt stacks at each end. The eaves are deep. There are four casement windows on the first floor and four below, with leaded lights under shallow ogee arches to the right of centre. Gauged brick heads are above the ground floor window to the left, while the right-hand windows have rendered heads. Planked doors are located to the left of centre and to the left on the cross wing.

The return front on the left-hand side shows exposed timber framing.

Internally, the centre and right-hand cross wing have crown post roofs. Evidence suggests a possible detached kitchen with a crown post roof lay to the rear left.
