Description
This is a house and cottage dating back to the 16th century, with alterations and a re-facing in the 18th century and an addition on the right side. The building is timber-framed and has grey brick facing with red brick detailing. It features a plinth and a decorative band above the first-floor windows in the gabled cross wing to the left. The roof is covered in old tiles, with two ridge stacks to the right and a large, end stack to the left, featuring two 19th-century diamond-shaped shafts with overhanging tops. Originally a hall house, it comprises three bays and a two-bay cross wing. The windows are leaded casements; four first-floor windows are two-light, three ground-floor windows are three-light, the one on the left having a segmental head. A six-panelled door with glazed upper panels and a flat hood is located on the left, while a 20th-century one-story addition houses a door on the right. A three-light first-floor window is set into the cross wing, and a three-light window with a segmental head sits below it on the ground floor. The rear displays exposed timber framing with curved braces. Inside, the building retains redundant crown post roof trusses and windbraces, alongside soot blackening on the roof timbers.
