Description

Tile Cottage and Number 23 is a house, now used as a house and shop, dating to around 1600, with alterations in the 18th century. The building is timber framed and partly refaced with brick and plaster, with a brick facing to the west. It has an old tile roof with two ridge stacks and three gables to the west, and a half-hipped roof to the east. The building comprises two parallel ranges of one and four framed bays. The west front has three segmental-headed first-floor leaded casements, one beneath each gable; a central half-glazed door, a glazing bar sash window to the left, and a 20th-century plate glass shop window to the right. The north front has irregular window placement within the timber framing. It features two first-floor sash windows, the left one with glazing bars; a central half-glazed door with a small sash window to the right; and three further sash windows to the left, one with margin lights.
