Description
No. 146 High Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the late 16th century and features a timber frame that is clad in 20th-century brick at the front, with stone dressings over a stone ground floor. The building has renewed concrete tile roofs that are obscured by a parapet. It stands two storeys high and has a stack at the rear. The façade consists of three bays, with a central round-arched 24-pane glazing-bar sash window set in a stone bolection surround, flanked by two narrow 18-pane glazing-bar sash windows. The ground floor has 20th-century plate glass windows and doors in the centre. The right-hand return front, which faces Milkhouse Gate, has painted brick infill to the painted timber frame. There are 19th and 20th-century extensions at the rear.
