Description
Little Cottage is an early 17th-century cottage, substantially extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed and has been clad in galletted sandstone rubble, with dressings in blue and red brick. The roof is tiled, with a catslide extending to the front left side. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with two gabled dormers featuring diamond-paned, leaded casement windows. On the front, there are two cambered-head windows with three lights each on the ground floor; the former central ground-floor door has been replaced with a window. A ribbed, offset end stack is located on the right side. A single-storey extension projects to the front on the left, with a gabled dormer. The right-hand return front features a 20th-century penticed roof porch containing a rear door. A 20th-century brick and tile-hung wing projects at right angles from the rear.
Inside the front range, stop-chamfered ceiling frames and a central spine beam are visible. There is a deep brick fireplace at the end, with a wooden lintel.
