Description
Halnacker Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It has a timber frame and is clad at the front with sandstone rubble, while the rear is exposed brick with white-washed render infill. The extensions at both ends are made of sandstone and brick, and the cottage features plain tiled roofs that are hipped, with a gablet on the right-hand end, stepping down to the left-hand extension. Originally, the cottage had three framed bays with a chimney bay, but it has since been extended and is positioned at right angles to the lane. It is one storey and has an attic with five hip-roofed leaded casement dormers. There is an end stack to the right and another stack to the right of the centre in the chimney bay. The ground floor has three casement windows arranged irregularly, along with double casement doors to the right. To the left, there is a casement door in a 20th-century open timber-framed porch with braces. Additionally, there is a single-storey 20th-century extension to the left with a ridge stack.
