Description
The garden walls and gazebos located to the east of Loseley House date from the 18th century. These kitchen garden walls are constructed from sandstone and chalk, with the north side featuring galleting and brick coping and dressings. The walls are approximately 8 feet high and have a rectangular plan. The wall on the west side includes several blocked gateways and one open gabled gateway dated 1868, which has brick corbels, zig-zag patterning, and an arched entrance surround leading to a studded gate.
At the corners of the walls are square gazebos. The north gazebo has been converted into a cottage, while the south gazebo is now part of the estate office. Both gazebos have ogee-shaped, hipped roofs covered with plain tiles. There is a brick extension to the south of the south gazebo and a single-storey weatherboard and brick extension to the west of the north gazebo. Each gazebo features two chimneys on the east walls and casement windows. The doors in the modern extensions are contemporary.
This structure is included in the listing for its group value.
