Description

No. 18 Church Street is a late 17th-century building that stands two storeys tall, constructed of red brick with rubbed brick dressings. It features a symmetrical arrangement of sash windows, with a pattern of 1 - 3 - 1, where the central three windows slightly project. The building has flat stone quoins and a band running between the storeys. A central 19th-century Tudor porch adds to its character, while the eaves cornice is decorated with wood modillions. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles, and it includes three gabled dormers. At the rear, there is a slate-hung tower topped with an ogival "Tudor" roof.

Inside, the original staircase is notable for its turned balusters and solid string. The drawing room features a fireplace made of marble or stone from the 18th century, and most of the fittings and joinery date from the early 19th century.

This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 14 to 24 (even), Nos. 24A and 24B, as well as an outhouse to the north of No. 18 and the Old King's Head Public House.
