Description
Nos. 136 and 138 High Street is a late 17th-century house that has been converted into shops. The building features a timber frame with a rendered front and brick return walls. It has a plain tiled roof that is half hipped to the left, with end stacks located to the left and rear right. The structure is two storeys high with an attic, which is illuminated by two flat-headed dormers on the right side. On the first floor, there are two glazing bar sash windows. The ground floor has plate glass shop fronts, with a central brick pier. To the left of this pier, there is a glazed door, and to the right end, there is a glazed door set in a recess. Inside, the ground floor room at the rear features a timber-framed partition wall with whitewashed brick infill.
