Description

This is a cast iron pump located opposite the Bear Hotel in Esher, built in 1864. It stands approximately 6 feet tall on a square base, featuring an octagonal plinth and an octagonal pump shaft. The shaft is adorned with traceried panels on each side and topped with an ogee dome. The water spout is positioned on the west face, with a pump handle at the rear, which has palmette moulding at the end. The pump was originally situated in Sandown Park and was erected to commemorate the marriage of the Comte de Paris to H.R.H. Infanta Maria Isabella on May 30, 1864.
