Almshouse group. Circa 1912 by Sir Reginald Blomfield. Red brick with sandstone plinth, quoins and dressings. Hipped roofs with tall panelled central stacks on ridge . Central projections with wide, open segmental area. 2 identical blocks joined b central triple arched colonnade with central pediment over, flanking urns. Blocks: 2 storeys, 4 windows, casements. Those to centre of first floor of "Venetian" window type. Entrances with round arches set in panels in outer bays of ground floor. Steps on each side leading to side entrances on first floor of upper flats.

The village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley stores for thrifty old folk and was laid out on an octagonal plan designed by Frank Atkinson, employing leading architects of the day. PEVSNER: BUILDINGS OF ENGLAND, SURREY (1971) pp320-1.
