Description
This is a post located by Holroyds Plantation, dating from around 1860. It stands approximately 4½ feet high and is made of metal. The post features a four-legged plinth with a stop-chamfered pier above, which is topped by a moulded capital band and a pyramidal top. The front of the post displays a cast shield of the City of London, along with lettering on the pier below. This post served as a coal and wine tax marker, indicating the boundary where duty was payable, with the coal tax dating back to the 1660s.
