Description
SENTOSA is a house built around 1934 by Easton & Robertson for the Erhardt family. It is constructed of rendered brick with artificial stone dressings and features cantilevered steel joists that support the walls over corner windows, eliminating the need for columns. The building has a coped parapet that conceals a flat roof and is two storeys high, with three storeys in the center of the entrance front.
The entrance front has an irregular facade, highlighted by a central three-storey bow with a tall window extending through both upper floors. To the side of the main bow is a small semi-circular flat-headed porch with an off-centre glazed door. There is a balcony on the extreme left of the first floor, a small rectangular projection on the ground floor to the right, and a further two-storey wing beyond.
The garden front presents an irregular composition with a single-storey wing to the left. It features a central ground floor loggia with a balcony above, and the windows in and over the porch are arranged symmetrically. There is also a single porthole window to the left and a small shelter on the roof for outdoor sleeping. For further details, see the Architect's Journal, 7 May 1936, page 699.
