SP2203-2303, SP2204-2304 FILKINS AND BROUGHTON POGGS VILLAGE STREET (South-east side) Filkins 11/203, 7/203 Bridge View

GV II Cottage. C17-early C18, with some later alterations. Coursed rubble limestone with stone slate roof. Rubble stone chimney to left with pair of square shafts. One storey and attic, 2 bays. Various 2-light casements, the ground floor with C19 wooden casement to left bay and C20 cross window to right. Upper storey has gabled eaves-line dormers, the left with c.1960s wooden casement, the right with C19 metal casement. Central C20 door in altered opening. All ground floor openings have wooden lintels. Slightly lower bay to left, of later date, with garage doors. Other extensions to rear. Interior has heavy chamfered spine beam with run-out stop at left end, and similar wooden lintel over altered fireplace. Heavy lintel over central rear doorway is also chamfered and stopped. Wide winder staircase in curved well on axis with stack. Upper fireplace with chamfered stone jambs. Old purlins and traces of hayloft door in right bay. Also known as Bridge Cottage.
